This is my entry for the o2a2 2022 jam this year.

"A Place to Rest" is an atmospheric ghost story. Illustrated without a protagonist, exploring the themes of eternal life from a different perspective. I let the environment tell the story mostly. In the same way that some of my favorite horror games do. I often contemplate possessions that have been left behind, I hope it brings that same feeling to you too.

Thank you for playing.

Curious stories of ghosts, the environment described by the texts is very atmospheric and it is a surprise when trying to make an offering to a forgotten altar found to later find a condemned spirit that portends doom.

Thank you so much for the Let's Play! I really appreciate it.

Dang was this so good! Granted I didn't read the description properly and I was so shocked when the scene turned red. Like "Woman, this person was just doing their best to give you offerings and stuff" but then again it is tricky things they're dealing with so probably look don't touch. But the ending, man the ending made my curiosity unsatiable. I wonder if you're gonna continue this, especially with that rusty key. But anyways, great job with making the atmopshere tense with just one scene and unique ways to handle the dialogue!

Thanks for the response! I was inspired by a lot of urban ghost stories, especially from Asia. They always had some kind of weird trick or gimmick to them. The lessons were always about themes of politeness, being respectful, not being greedy, etc. But imagine having to remember all those things under such stressful circumstances? I know I'd make a few ghosts angry. I really appreciate it, I would like to make more along these themes. Perhaps even push myself in terms of how dialogue is represented. Thanks again. โ™ฅ
